Lefty-standout Adam Windsor of Clay-Chalkville
has committed to the University of Alabama.
The Excel Blue Wave 17-U Baseball Team recently completed its inaugural summer season. The team of highly-touted athletes was closely followed by college and professional scouts as they competed in a number of tournaments across the Southeast.
Three Blue Wave pitchers and one infielder received scholarship offers from SEC schools. Heflin-native CC Watson committed to Mississippi State University, while Oxford's Trey Pilkington and Clay-Chalkville's Adam Windsor made commitments to the University of Alabama. Infielder Sam Frost of Hoover committed to Mississippi State. College baseball's official signing period begins in mid-November.
"We're proud of each young man on the team for the excellent way they performed on the field and handled themselves off the field this summer," said Blue Wave Head Coach Steve Gendron. "It's exciting that three of our pitchers and a position player are headed to SEC schools to continue their careers, and we certainly wish Sam, Adam, Trey and CC the best at their respective universities."
Along with Gendron, assistant coach Josh Beshears is glad to see the progress the team has made.
"This has been an excellent learning opportunity for these young men," said Beshears. "They improved their skills and showcased their talents in front of professional scouts and college coaches."
