Excel Baseball Academy has begun its third season with its spring showcase team – the Excel Blue Wave – comprised mostly of 17-year-olds from across Alabama, which will play in several tournaments around the Southeast through the end of the summer.
The team’s coaches, Steve Gendron and Josh Beshears, bring more than 40 years combined baseball experience to the team.
“We’re excited about forming our third team of talented players from across the state,” said Gendron. “It's an excellent learning opportunity for these young men. We’re looking forward to providing them a chance to improve their skills and showcase their talents in front of professional scouts and college coaches.”
Gendron is a former Florida Marlins infielder who retired from professional baseball in June 2007. Beshears is a former Winnipeg Goldeyes and Kalamazoo Kings pitcher. Along with Matthew Maniscalco, Beshears and Gendron operate Excel Baseball Academy in Oxford.
2010 Roster will be added soon.
