Two Excel players drafted in the Major League Baseball Amateur draft

Two former Excel Blue Wave players were drafted on day two of the 2011 mlb amatuer draft. Justin Kamplain of Walker County HS was drafted in the 22nd round by the St. Louis Cardinals in Tuesday's draft. Trent Higgingbotham of Clay-Chalkville, was drafted in the 26th round by the Minnesota Twins in Tuesday's draft.

Kamplain, a member of the 2010 Excel Blue Wave team that reached the final 8 of the 220 team World Wood Bat tournament last summer, has signed with the University of Alabama to continue his baseball career. The left-hander whose fastball can reach 93 mph, was a key part of the Blue Wave's successful summer.

Higginbotham, who has signed to play baseball at Shelton State , was also an integral part of the Blue Wave team last summer. The right-handed pitcher was dominant on the mound all summer long and can run his fastball into the low 90's as well.

Excel would like to congratulate Justin and Trent on this accomplishment and wish them the best of luck in their baseball careers.
