Mathew Goodson (2012, OF, Oxford High School) has verbally committed to play for the University of Alabama on a baseball scholarship (along with former Excel students Trey Pilkington, Adam Windsor, and Cary Baxter). Goodson has played for the Oxford High School varsity baseball team since his freshman year, where he has put up fantastic numbers over those two seasons. During the summer, Goodson played with the Excel Blue Sox in ’09 and the Excel Blue Wave in ’10. Mathew also participated in the Perfect Game Invitational JR National Showcase is Tampa, Fla., where he posted the top 60-yd. sprint with a 6.57 and the second highest outfield velocity with 93 mph. 

Mathew has been a student at Excel for several years and continues to be one of the hardest working athletes at the facility. We are excited that Mathew will have this great opportunity to play at the University of Alabama, and we wish him the best of luck in the rest of his baseball career.
